Astronomy Club

Every Tuesday night at 8 o’clock UM’s astronomy enthusiasts gather on top of the Ungar building for a little star-gazing. The meeting is sponsored by the quasi-official Astronomy Club, who welcomes everyone from the aspiring astrophysicist to the lowly English major…(just kiddin’, the world needs you guys to point out the outlandish grammatical erros caused by the phsyicists). While there’s a core of truly dedicated sky-watchers that shows up every Tuesday to set up the telescopes and do their own viewings, the commitment of the average attendee can be as small or great as you choose. If that means showing up whenever you remember there’s a meeting, then that’s totally cool. Everyone is very nice and more than willing to help you get your bearings of the night sky if you look a little confused…

I went with a few friends last night and was able to see the Ring Nebula as well as Saturn and three of its moons in stunning detail. Incredible stuff.
